The year began with models sashaying down the ramp in choicest of clothes, but 2020 is ending on a strange note. China just held a one of a kind fashion show to showcase its fashion forward protective gear – the PPE kits (Personal Protective Equipment, which is protective clothing or equipment designed to protect the wearer’s body from injury or infection).
According to a report published by AFP, Chinese manufacturers recently showcased their wares in Liaoning province at a protective clothing fashion expo.
“Potential buyers could see models sashay past wearing the gear — and not limited to coronavirus suits, but also showcasing firefighters and power maintenance outfits, according to state broadcaster CCTV,” suggested the report.
That’s not all, the country’s manufacturers launched a new line of protective gear at the recently held China-Dandong Fashion Week.
So what makes these PPE kits fashionable, well they are same white suits but with a play of colour here and there and the people wearing them won’t sweat as much, that’s what the makers claim.
With the talks of the vaccination all set to reach most countries in 2021, the manufacturers are anticipating that the PPE sales may dip, but they know the kits won’t stop selling as they are deemed suitable for other things like firefighting, decorating and cleaning.
Well, it may sound like an opportunity to Chinese manufacturers but we would call this a bizarre fashion trend. Imagine people walking on the streets in stylish PPE kits! Tell us what are your views on the fashion show held for PPEs in the comment section below.
