This also reflected how consumption of chocolate help in treating depressive symptoms.
As per the lead author of the study, Dr Sarah Jackson (UCL Institute of Epidemiology & Health Care) said: “This study provides some evidence that consumption of chocolate, particularly dark chocolate, may be associated with reduced odds of clinically relevant depressive symptoms.
Moreover, the research established that people who consumed chocolates were less likely to be depressed this is simply because chocolates are enriched with the goodness of psychoactive ingredients that help in releasing serotonin, phenylethylamine, neuromodulators, which helps in elevating the mood and keeps you calm. However, the study also emphasised on the fact the it helps in improving the mood only if the chocolate and its taste is palatable and pleasant to eat as it helps in giving the body ample antioxidants and reduce the stress and depressive symptoms. However, it is just a small way to improve your mood, if you are experiencing severe mood swings and depressive symptoms, then seeking the right medical advice is essential.
