It’s that time of the year again when fruits are bountiful. Available in various colours and flavours, these seasonal wonders are not only good for your health, but are instant mood lifters as well. Yes, it’s best to eat them raw, but you can also experiment a bit at home and come up with some yummy variants of your favourite fruits. Here’re the recipes of a few dishes that you can make in a jiffy…
All you need to make plum jam are two ingredients – plums and sugar. Peel and pit one kilo of plums and place them in a large bowl. Add one cup of sugar to the bowl and mix it until the sugar properly coats the plums. Set it aside and let the sugar dissolve. Then, put this mix on a pan and heat it till it comes to a boil. Use a large spoon or a hand blender to mash it until you get the desired consistency. The jam is ready to eat. Grate a little cinnamon on top and store it in clear jars.
To prepare litchi sorbet, you’ll need litchis and honey. In a food processor, put one kilo of litchis and four teaspoons of honey and blend it well. Once you get the smooth consistency, transfer the mix to a container and freeze. Once it’s set, scoop the sorbet and serve with a drizzle of honey.
Take 400 grams of cherries, pit them and put them on a pan. Add half cup sugar and bring the mix to a boil, allowing the cherries to soften. Then mash the cherries using a big spoon. Your compote is ready to be served with warm pancakes, waffles or French Toast.
If you’re a salad lover, then this recipe is for you. Finely dice one ripe mango, one onion, one tomato and one red and green bell pepper. Put the chopped ingredients in a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper to it and mix well. Then add a teaspoon of olive to it and give it a good stir. Your salad is ready to be served.
