How to make greek yoghurt at home
Take a vessel and heat 1 liter milk. Heat the milk till it starts boiling. Turn off the flame once the milk starts scalding.
Allow the milk to cool down to a normal room temperature. When the milk attains a normal temperature transfer it into a glass or earthenware bowl. It is a must to prepare it in an earthen pot and is advised to avoid stainless steel. yoghurt is prepared using healthy bacteria cultures. Thus it needs a good container to ferment.
Next add three tablespoons of yoghurt to milk, once it turns lukewarm, this makes it easy to mix with yoghurt. The healthy bacteria present in the yoghurt amalgamate with the milk and turn the entire milk into a healthy fermented blend.
Keep this blend aside 3 to 4 hours and allow it to ferment and turn into yoghurt. Keep it in a warm and dry place to attain that perfect consistency. Drain the excess water and keep the yoghurt in the refrigerator and your greek yoghurt is ready. To make it sweet you can add some sugar, stevia or jaggery while boiling the milk. This will give you that sweet taste. However, even if you don’t add sugar, the taste and texture of freshly prepared yoghurt is usually sweet.
