Not making bed

A survey by the National Sleep Foundation found that bedroom comfort is key to getting a good night’s sleep. The researchers found that those who made their bed regularly were 19% more likely to report getting a good night’s rest almost every day compared to those who didn’t. Not getting a good quality of sleep on a regular basis can make you crave for unhealthy foods, which can cause weight gain. So, adopting this good habit of making your bed may result in better sleep, which is a very important component of losing weight.

Beginning the day with coffee & not water

Most people start their day with a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea – instead of water. While coffee has been shown to offer major health benefits, not to mention the stimulating effect of caffeine, it isn’t yet a healthy idea to begin your day with. Instead, it’s always recommended to drink a glass of warm water first thing in the morning as it can help speed up your metabolism and cleanse your body of toxins. You can add some lemon juice to the water, or some green tea. Drinking enough water can also help increase the number of calories you burn, thereby aiding weight loss. So, not drinking water in the morning may disrupt your fitness goals.

Getting dressed in the dark

The fact is, when you get dressed in the dark you could be setting yourself up for weight gain. Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that has many functions in the human body, including mineral metabolism. Research has found that vitamin D deficiency is associated with higher levels of belly fat and larger waistlines. For instance, a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism showed that young women with lower vitamin D levels were significantly heavier and had greater body mass than women with normal levels. Also, one study published in the journal PLOS One suggested that exposure to sunlight in the morning shortly after waking up can lead to decreased body mass index (BMI). So, getting a good dose of sunlight in the morning may help improve health by reducing body fat.
