Recently, a controlled crossover trial was conducted by the University of Minnesota, where it was revealed that eating mushrooms regularly for breakfast makes you feel fuller, for longer period of time. The people participating in this study were asked to either eat a mushroom or a beef sandwich for breakfast for 10 days and then were told to switch for the next 10 days.
It was found that mushroom-eaters felt fuller even after an hour of having their breakfast. This happens because mushrooms are higher in fiber content as compared to meat of similar quantity.
Previous studies suggest that having food which is neither a fruit nor a vegetable, may help to combat dementia.
However, this study was not carried out to measure the weight lost by people who were on this diet. But it is quite clear that mushrooms can keep you full for a longer period of time, which is more than enough to include it in your diet.
