Now in her 40s, Karisma Kapoor is living her best life. Over the course of the last two weeks, the star has expertly juggled her judging duties on a dance show with Anissa Malhotra and Armaan Jain’s wedding festivities, as well as her nephew, Taimur Ali Khan’s birthday celebrations. Along with this, she also attended Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Christmas party and family lunch on December 25. But through all the late nights and early mornings, her radiant glow remained intact.
Those who follow Kapoor’s sartorial style know that she’s a connoisseur of classics. The 45-year-old adopts a similar approach to beauty, eschewing the bells and whistles in favour of the core tenets of skincare—moisturisation, hydration and regular exercise. “A lot of things here and there keep changing as we grow older, of course. The needs of our skin keep evolving, but I have always followed a three-step process that hasn’t changed over the years—cleansing, exfoliation and moisturisation,” she told us in an interview last year. As far as advice goes, she only had one important piece to offer then: “Use a face cream every day. When you’re younger, you feel like it’s a step you can skip, and not use a moisturiser unless your skin is feeling dry. It’s very important to moisturise daily and use a good sun block.” Spotted shaking a leg to the Pond’s Skin Fit soundtrack at the recently concluded Pinkathon, we caught up with her to get the inside deal on her skincare and wellness regimen. Here’s what we learned.
What does your fitness routine look like?
In order to stay fit, I usually opt for yoga and a brisk walk around the compound.
Which essentials will we always find in your gym bag?
Apart from the regular towels and yoga mat, I have also been stocking face wipes that help your skin cool down after a workout.
What’s your favourite self-care activity on a Sunday?
After a long week, I love to indulge myself with a massage, whether it’s foot reflexology or aromatherapy to soothe the senses.
How do you get back on track after indulging on a holiday?
I imagine that’s very difficult for everyone. The only thing that helps is to really focus and get back into the groove.
What does your favourite cheat meal look like?
My ideal cheat meal would definitely involve biryani, and then a yummy dessert to end things on a sweet note.
What’s your secret to acing the no-makeup selfie?
You just need two things: great lighting and absolutely no filters.
What’s the one skincare commandment you’ll never break?
Always remember to remove your makeup before you head to bed, regardless of what time you sleep. Also, always use a good moisturiser, such as the Pond’s Age Miracle Day Cream.
What’s your best advice for restoring skin after a late night during the party season?
It is essential to take some time to care for your skin through all the parties. Drink tons of water to keep yourself and your skin hydrated.
