Michelle Obama is known for her strength on many fronts (though her impressively toned arms made more than a few headlines during her tenure as First Lady). And this Sunday, she gave Instagram an inside look at her fitness routine, which included an intense gym workout.
“It doesn’t always feel good in the moment,” she captioned the photo, which showed her holding a lunge with a weighted ball over her head, “but after the fact, I’m always glad I hit the gym.” Obama has long been a vocal advocate for health-minded ritual both personally and as a public figure. A previous Instagram post revealed that she’s made a habit of hosting regular fitness bootcamp weekends for her friends. And at the White House, she addressed child obesity by launching the “Let’s Move” campaign.
