More on the stick-on nail trend

Self-isolation due to the lockdown has led to the renaissance of the stick-on nail trend. It has become popular due to the COVID-19 lockdown and even Chrissy Teigen seemed impressed with the results. All one has to do is apply the glue, and press the stick-on nails on to your real nails. They last for up to two weeks, and are equally easy to remove. However, if you are one of those who still prefers to nail the real deal, here’s how to go about it.

Use a nail polish remover to remove nail paint

As part of your beauty and nail care routine, make sure you use a good quality nail polish remover that not only removes the nail polish but also moisturises your cuticles and strengthens your nails. Once you have got rid of the nail polish, soak your nails in a bowl of mild soap and water. This helps clean them.

Clip your nails and file them well

Follow this up by clipping your nails if required, and then gently filing them. Decide on whether you want to go for a round, squarish look . Pick the shape that best suits you. Ensure that you do not overfile your nails. Once done with filing, buff the sides and the top of the nail with a nail buffer. Doing this will give your nails a natural sheen.

Prep cuticles and exfoliate your hands

Use a cuticle remover to remove any dead skin. Follow this up with a cuticle oil to moisturise them. Use a scrub to exfoliate your hands and to get rid of any dirt or grime on them. Wash your hands dry once done.

Moisturise your hands

Use a good moisturiser to ensure your hands get the nourishment it needs.

Apply nail polish

Separate each finger with a small cotton ball before applying the nail polish. Go with a base coat to prevent chipping, and to give it a good finish. Wait for at least two minutes before applying the second coat. Ensure you do not take too much polish and use a cotton ball to remove any excess nail paint on the sides.

Apply a top coat to seal the deal

Make sure your second coat is dry before applying the top coat and go with a gloss after a full two minutes for a great finish. Allow your nails to dry, and you are good to go.
