The UV rays can penetrate deep into our skin and cause pigmentation, dark spots, premature ageing etc, and that’s when sunscreen comes up for the rescue.
Almost every beauty expert emphasizes on the usage of sunscreen throughout the year — whether you are indoor or outdoor. Still it is almost the most neglected skincare product in our vanity. The harmful UV rays can penetrate deep into our skin and cause pigmentation, dark spots, premature ageing etc, — something sunscreen can help prevent to a great extent. This is one of the primary reasons why applying sunscreen before stepping out is important.
“When it comes to photoageing, we should definitely talk about the high energy visible light or blue light. These are high frequency, shorter wavelengths of lights in boiler blue band in the visible spectrum. The sources of this light are daylight, fluorescent lightning, LEDs, TV screens, smartphones, tablets and computers. All these lights lead to permanent damage. That’s the reason why sunscreen is recommended even when indoors,” says Dr Pallavi Sule, dermatologist and aesthetic physician.

But how to use it right when you have applied a lot of make-up?
1. Applying sunscreen can help your skin to prep up well before applying makeup. Go for gel-based sunscreens or water-based ones instead of cream-based to avoid oily base before makeup.
2. Never apply primer before the sunscreen; it is important to give your skin some TLC before slapping on makeup. This is important to understand that any skincare product must be applied on the skin before applying primer.
3. Use products like foundations and primer that have SPF in them. If you are not someone who is fond of foundation, then you can opt for SPF-loaded BB cream.
4. Setting spray, which is generally used after doing the makeup, can also be SPF loaded so that your skin is totally protected inside out.
