The growth of breast cells in women
The breast cells in women undergo rapid changes from her teenage year to her first pregnancy. If the cancerous cells develop in the initial years, eventually it will mushroom at a fast pace as compared to a later year. Though that risk of developing breast cancer is there throughout one’s life, it is very high between puberty and pregnancy. Post pregnancy, the breast tissue undergoes numerous biological changes that make them little immune to the cancerous cells.
The link between breast cancer and alcohol intake
According to a report from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, breast cancer is directly associated with your alcohol intake. As per the existing theory, alcohol affects the circulation of estrogen and estrogen receptors in the breast cells. The products of alcohol metabolism also play a crucial role in the growth of breast tumor.
When the risk is high
If you consume alcohol frequently before age 30, then the chances of developing cancer-causing cells are very high.
Several studies, such as the one published by Ying Liu, MD, and colleagues also suggested that having alcohol daily before your first pregnancy can increase the risk of developing breast cancer from 7 to 10 percent. This study says that not only the age, but the quantity of alcohol consumed also matters. It says that binge drinking like having four or more drinks in two hours is problematic.
