These two colours ‘together’ are Pantone colour of the year 2021


It’s 2020 and it ought to spring a surprise. Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has been declaring its coveted ‘Color of the Year’. Twice a year the company hosts, a hush-hush meeting tabled by representatives from various nations’ colour standard groups and they come up with the colour of the year after much debate and this time around, the committee chose two colours to be the Pantone colour of the year 2021.

Pantone Ultimate Gray (grey) and Pantone Illuminating (bright yellow) have been dubbed as the colour of the upcoming year. According to the Pantone website, the colour were picked up since “a marriage of color conveys a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.”

According to PaNtone, these two independent colours highlight how different elements come together to support one another, best express the mood for Pantone Color of the Year 2021. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the union is a story of color that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly.

Well, generally speaking grey and yellow, together are a marriage made in heaved as they represent calmness and serenity, something that all of us need in the coming year.
