23-year-old Priya Agarwal was done with constant body-shaming and the unsolicited comments that came her way. Her weight had reached a whopping 87.5 kilos and she realised that she needed to shed all the stubborn kilos and get back in shape. Priya knew that there was absolutely no shortcut to losing weight. This is how she lost a whopping 26 kilos by working out with an unwavering dedication.

The turning point: I have never been the girl who would pay a lot of attention to what others said about me. However, I was really tired of the constant body-shaming and rude comments. It had started hurting me and I used to feel really low. That was the point I decided that I needed to lose all the weight and become the best version of me. I have never looked back since that day.
My breakfast: Soaked chana
My lunch: 1 chapati, boiled vegetables, 1 bowl of curd and green salad
My dinner: Soup or dalia
I indulge in: I did not have any cheat day during my weight loss journey.
My workout: I create a balance between muscle training, weight training and cardio
Fitness secrets I unveiled:During your weight loss journey you need to be hydrated and sleep well. No matter what happens, you need to ensure that you are working out regularly. There is no replacement for hard work.
How do I stay motivated? I have made exercising my lifestyle. When I don’t work out for even a single day, it feels like something is missing from my day. I do not bunk gym. Whenever I feel that I am straying from my weight goal, my trainer Shiva bhaiya makes sure that I stay motivated.
How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?I make it a point to check my weight regularly and keep a record of the same. Seeing your body transform right in front of your eyes was inspiring enough to keep me focused
What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?There came a point when I wasn’t able to wear the desired clothes of my choice as my size was increasing with every passing day. It became really difficult to get clothes which fit me. As a result, I had to compromise on what I wore.
What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to become the best version of myself, both physically and mentally.
What are the lifestyle changes you made? I have made it a point to hit the sheets on time and get up early in the morning. I also started clean eating, completely stopped junk food consumption and began working out daily.
What was the lowest point for you? While I never really cared about what people had to say about my weight, I got tired of constantly hearing that I am fat and overweight.
Lessons learnt from weight loss: I have realised that consistency is the key and you can certainly achieve the desired results with consistent efforts. Remember that there is no substitute for hard work and no shortcut for weight loss. The sacrifices you make during your weight loss journey will be certainly worth it.
